UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 29, 2022) – At the Zeeland holiday high school basketball tournament last night in Zeeland East High’s gym, Zeeland West downed Coopersville, 52-42, and the host Chix beat Whitehall, 72-55. The schools swap opponents and move the action to West High this evening, with the Chix taking on Coopersville in the opener, and the Dux hosting Whitehall in the nightcap. Also tonight, West Ottawa meets Traverse City St. Francis in a holiday tournament at Grand Haven High.

Jake Wallman’s goal 2:13 into overtime completed a comeback from a 4-0 deficit after one period as the Red Wings rallied past the Penguins in Pittsburgh last night, 5-4. Detroit is slated to skate in Buffalo against the Sabres this evening.

At Little Caesars Arena, Alec Burks came off of the bench to tally 32 points as the Pistons downed the visiting Orlando Magic last night, 121-101. Meanwhile, DeMar DeRozan highlighted a 42-point, 12-rebound performance by hitting a jumper the lane with 31 seconds left in ovetime to break a 113-113 tie and give the Bulls a 119-113 triumph over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks. Detroit and Chicago meet at the United Center tomorrow evening.
