HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 22, 2022) – As a winter storm that is being predicted to have blizzard-like properties to it approaches, those who help the needy are getting just as ready as those who help keep power going and roads cleared.
Gateway Mission Development director Rachael Neal says that her non-profit, open 24/7, serve an average of 150 people a night in winter and that Gateway Mission is open 24 hours a day, every day.
During emergencies such as the one that is looming, non-profits team with each other and with authorities, according to Scott Rumpsa of the Community Action House.
The winter storm is expected to last through Saturday night, with some lingering snowfall predicted for Sunday Christmas Day along the Lakeshore.
