Shirley was an amazing mom, and loving grandma and great grandma. She was a life-long member of Oakland Christian Reformed Church and will be remembered by them and her loved ones for her big heart. Most of all, Shirley loved God, her family, and her husband, Roger, whom she has missed dearly since his passing in 2002.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roger; and her eleven siblings.
She is survived by her children: Linda & Ed Poortenga, Mike & Marcia Ver Beek, Steve & Wanda Ver Beek; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rietta Ver Beek; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service honoring Shirley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, with Rev. Mark Vande Zande officiating, at Oakland Christian Reformed Church, 4460 38th St. Hamilton, MI 49419. A time of visitation will take place Monday, December 19 from 6:00 pm. – 8:00 p.m. at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., Zeeland. Burial will be held in Bentheim Cemetery.
