Hazel “Bea” Haveman, age 94, of Zeeland, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Bea was raised in South Blendon and attended South Blendon School through the 8th grade. She assumes she must have been smart enough at that point because she was not offered to continue her education.
She married Willard Weenum at 19 years old and they shared 4 children and 24 blissful years before he passed away. Three years later she married “Juke” Haveman and along with his 4 children, they became something of a real-life Brady Bunch. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, and always had good stories of their growing-up years.
Bea was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed time with her family. She welcomed everyone with a smile and always had snacks available. Bea enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and doing needlework, and blessed her family with many cherished gifts that she created. She made a large quilt for each of her grandchildren as a gift for when they graduated from high school. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Bea is survived by her daughters: Lavonne & Larry Berghorst, Donna & John Savage, Mary & Dave Geerlings; daughter-in-law, Darlene Weenum; stepchildren: Robert & Nancy Haveman, David & Ruthann Haveman, Judy Driesenga, Edwin Haveman; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Grant (Becky) Van Heukelum; in-laws: Phyllis Van Heukelum, Gerald Haveman, Gary Van Hill, Wilma Van Oeveran.
Bea was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Weenum in 1968, her second husband Julius Haveman in 2020; and her son, Laverne Weenum in 2022.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm at North Blendon Christian Reformed Church, 7284 Taylor, Hudsonville, MI 49426. Interment will be in Borculo Cemetery.
