TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 17, 2022) – A Friday evening crash between a sedan and a Rapid mass transit bus between Allendale and Standale landed a Walker couple on hospital beds overnight.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) near Linden Drive around 9:15 PM. That was where a 26-year-old man, driving his sedan westbound, lost control of the vehicle. It came to a stop in the middle of the roadway, in the path of the accordion-style bus, driven by a 26-year-old Allendale woman, that couldn’t avoid a collision.
The sedan driver and his 23-year-old passenger were extricated by rescue workers, and both were taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The bus driver and a passenger in her vehicle were not hurt.
Westbound M-45 had to be closed off for a brief period while the collision was investigated and the scene cleared up for traffic to resume flowing safely. No names were disclosed as the matter remains under investigation.
