Setter Lauren Lee has enjoyed a debut season like no one else in the history of Hope College volleyball.
The freshman from Plymouth, Michigan (Ann Arbor Skyline HS) has been selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America team for NCAA Division III.
This is the 14th time a Hope student-athlete has received AVCA All-America honors. Lee is the first freshman to earn the honor.
Lee is one of 42 All-Americans overall and 14 third-team selections.
Lee helped the Flying Dutch advance to the national quarterfinals this week in Pittsburgh. Hope, winners of the Grand Rapids, Michigan, Regional last week after opening the sixth seed, will face Juniata College on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. at Duquesne University’s UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
It is Hope’s fourth national quarterfinal appearance in volleyball.
Lee has flourished in her first season with the Flying Dutch, ranking third in the Division III at 11.10 assists per set.
Lee’s passing helped the Flying Dutch rise to 13th in the nation in hitting percentage at .243.
This season, Lee previously has been selected as the Region 7 Freshman of the Year, the Grand Rapids, Michigan, Regional All-Tournament Team, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team and as the MIAA Freshman of the Year.
