Leona was born in Zeeland on August 7, 1934, to Lucas and Sena (Klingenberg) Schipper. Leona graduated from Zeeland High School and later married Warren Veldheer. They raised their children in Zeeland and were longtime members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. Leona worked for many years at Community Restaurant prior to her retirement. Warren preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law: Sherwin Hop and Delwin Kamphuis.
She is survived by her children: Lori and Dave Lamer, Bryan and Grace Veldheer, her grandchildren: Chris and Deb Lamer, Jodi and Eric Martinie, Eric and Cyndi Lamer, Kelsey and Jeff Kloosterman, Matthew and Heidi Veldheer, Sarah and Jake Bosscher, and Ashley Veldheer; eleven great-grandchildren, in-laws: Delores Hop, Marcia Kamphuis, Karl Veldheer, Keith and Elaine Veldheer; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 515 East Main Avenue, Zeeland MI 49464. Visiting hours will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
