ANN ARBOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The University of Michigan’s men’s basketball team is off to a winning start.
The Wolverines cruised past Purdue Fort Wayne 75-56 Monday night. Hunter Dickinson scored 22 points and Jett Howard had 21 to lead U of M. Michigan will face Eastern Michigan Friday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Michigan State University also opened its hoops season with a convincing win. Joey Hauser had 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Spartans crushed Northern Arizona 73-55 in East Lansing.
MSU will now head to San Diego to face second-ranked Gonzaga in the Armed Forces Classic Friday.
In other college basketball action, Eastern Michigan University knocked off Wayne State 75-66, while Western Michigan University fell short at Minnesota 61-60.
Central Michigan University visits Marquette Thursday in its first game.
