ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 4, 2022) – As more information is coming out over last May’s school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, local school and law enforcement officials have been huddling over the issue of school safety.
Authorities in that community west of San Antonio are investigating if some of the victims could have survived had police acted sooner, as nearly 400 law officers responded to the shooting, but none entered the classroom where the children were shot for over an hour. Calls to dispatchers on that fateful day were made public this week as well.
The Allegan County Safe Schools Network conducted a Preparedness Seminar at Allegan High School Conference Center yesterday morning, where school leaders and staffers huddled with Sheriff Frank Baker and other law enforcement figures.
A similar Ottawa Area Secure Schools Network School Summit was also held this week.
