Millie Wilson, age 81, of Hudsonville, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Sheldon Meadows Nursing Home.
Millie was a woman of great determination. She never let her physical abilities stop her from pursuing her dreams. She earned degrees in education from Fort Wayne Bible College and Marygrove College. Millie was a beloved kindergarten teacher for many years with East Detroit Public Schools.
She was the most incredible mom and Grammie to her 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and her beloved service dogs Ian and Coale.
She was a faithful servant in ministry, serving in many ways wherever God sent her. She was a long-time Sunday School teacher, choir member, and bible study leader at Royal Oak Missionary Church and First Baptist Church of Ferndale. She served in countless ministries, sharing the love of Jesus everywhere she served.
Her strong faith was the cornerstone of her life. God gave Millie the gift of encouragement which was spread to everyone she met. She spent every day of her life showing love and positivity to others. Her legacy of choosing joy will live on through everyone whose lives were touched by this angel.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Jim Watkins.
She is survived by her daughters: Kristin (Tim) Lohr, Beth (Michael) Green, Karin (Amy) Ramirez; grandchildren: Caden Lohr, Peyten Lohr, Synthia Alexander, Jonathan Alexander, Joshua Green, Joel Mongeon, Ethan Mongeon, many nieces and nephews; and her beloved service dogs: Ian and Coale, who not only served her but were her companions.
A celebration of life honoring Millie will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Holland Fish and Game Club, 10840 Chicago Dr., Zeeland, MI 49464. The service will start at 12:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
