LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 27, 2022) – An Allegan woman who operates a group child care home has had her license from the state suspended and may face revocation of that license.
On Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs’ Child Care Licensing Bureau took this action against Deborah Loudin. An investigator looked into this matter last month and found that Loudin had violated the state’s Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules.
Among the transgressions allegedly committed by her were a “failure to provide appropriate care and supervisions at all times, use of corporal punishment with children, and failure to ensure that all persons in the home are conducive to the welfare of children,” according to the complaint. A LARA statement added, “It was critical to take emergency action to protect the health, welfare and safety of the children at this group child care home.”
Loudin has until 6 PM on Thursday to close the child care operation at her residence, prohibits her from accepting any children for care after that time there or anywhere else in Michigan, and notify parents/guardians of children currently in her care of this action. She has until next Wednesday to notify LARA if she wishes to appeal the ruling before a state administrative law judge.
