GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 26, 2022) – Although it’s only a “midterm” vote, the integrity of the November 8th General Election is not just a state or local jurisdiction matter, but one for federal authorities as well.
On Tuesday, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan announced that Assistant US Attorney Justin Presant has been appointed as the District Election Officer for this region. He will have oversight on any Election Day complaints involving voting rights, threats of violence towards election officials or staff, and election fraud. This will be done in coordination with the US Justice Department Headquarters in Washington as part of that office’s nationwide Election Day Program, with FBI special agents available throughout the country to investigate allegations of election fraud and other abuses.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck is confident that any questions of election integrity can and will be handled well by local officials.
There is a local hotline number – 616-808-2140 – to report any election-related issues. A link for more information on this initiative is here.
