Three from Hope College have been selected as MIAA Athletes of the Week in their respective sports: senior Seth Almquist in men’s golf, senior Ana Tucker in women’s cross country and sophomore Connor Vachon in men’s cross country.
This is Almquist’s first career MIAA weekly honor, Tucker’s second and Vachon’s third.
Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata HS) is the MIAA Men’s Golfer of the Week after helping the Flying Dutchmen golf team win the 36-hole MIAA Fall Finish and secure their 22nd regular-season championship.
The senior and chemistry/education major finished fifth in the Fall Finish’s individual standings at 4-over-par.
Almquist shot a 73 on Saturday and a 75 on Friday.
Tucker (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) is the MIAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time this season.
Tucker posted a third-place effort out of 244 runners at the Augustana College (Ill.) Interregional Invitational on Saturday.
The senior and exercise science major clocked a 6K time of 20 minutes, 5.87 seconds.
Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) is the MIAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this season.
Vachon recorded a 10th-place finish out of 276 runners at the Augustana College (Ill.) Interregional Invitational on Saturday.
The sophomore computer science and education major ran an 8K time of 24:03.4.
