Robert “Bob” Kleis, age 63, of Zeeland, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, after suffering sudden cardiac arrest.
Bob loved his family and was always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going on cruises with Deb, his wife of 40 years. Camping and boating with daughters Christine (Andy) Teichman and Laura (Scott) Kass defined summer for Bob. The family loved taking road trips and spending time together up north. Bob also found immense joy in spending time with his 3 young grandchildren Leah, Logan, and Ira.
Bob was known for his strong work ethic. A graduate of Holland Christian, Bob began working at Life Savers the day after graduation. After 26 years, when the plant closed, Bob transitioned to truck driving, finally retiring in March 2021, after 15 years of driving fuel trucks for Merle Boes.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Ruth Kleis, and father-in-law Terry Ver Hulst. He is survived by his wife, Deb; children Christine and Andy Teichman, Laura and Scott Kass; grandchildren Leah Teichman, Logan, and Ira Kass; siblings Sheryl and Bob De Ruiter, Jane and Bill Mc Carty, and Steve and Pat Kleis, mother-in-law Helen Ver Hulst, brother-in-law Tom and Jodi Ver Hulst.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2022, at North Holland Reformed Church, 12050 New Holland St. Holland MI 49424 with Rev. Steven DeVries officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon-12:45 pm, directly preceding the funeral service. Interment will be in North Holland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland. Arrangements are by Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464.
