OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 3, 2022) – The drivers involved in a two-vehicle injury crash along US-31 in West Olive on Monday afternoon are expected to recover from their ailments.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Wildfong, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the trunk road near Blair Street shortly before 3 PM. That was where an electric-powered sedan, stuck in traffic, was hit from behind at full speed by another sedan with a traditional powered internal combustion engine.
Wildfong explained that the driver of the second vehicle, a 59-year-old man from South Bend, said he didn’t have time to even slow down because of the suddenness of the stopped traffic ahead of him. That driver, along with a 37-year-old West Olive woman in the electric vehicle, had to be hospitalized for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
