GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 3, 2022) – A Monday evening crash south of Grand Haven hospitalized a 25-year-old Grand Haven man.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the junction of US-31 and Buchanan Street shortly after 6 PM. That was where the southbound sedan driven by that unnamed motorist struck the rear corner of a semi that was in the right lane, veered to the left, hit a large tree in the median and caught fire.
Rescuers were able to douse the flames, and the motorist was taken to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon in critical condition. The 59-year-old Allegan man driving the truck was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
