Sybounheuang Anongdeth

Sybounheuang “Sy” Anongdeth passed away peacefully Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. After a long battle with kidney failure, he received a kidney transplant. He then faced another battle – colon cancer. He fought like the true soldier he was. Syboun came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Syboun was born in Laos on January 1, 1947, to Maimoun and Mone Anongdeth. He was a soldier in Laos, but when he moved to the United States, he became a soldier here. He served in the Vietnam War and was a proud member of the American Legion of Holland, MI. Syboun spent 47 years with his wife Khamdeng Chakchum.

While in the United States, he carried on hobbies like hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also loved being a part of the Laotian Buddhist community of Holland. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family.

Syboun is survived by his wife, Khamdeng Anongdeth; three children: Dahlilah Anongdeth (Oy Chay), Chitthaphone Anongdeth (Laun), Winn Anongdeth; eight grandchildren: Dominick Tran, Calvin Keopatthavong, Katalina Anongdeth, Julian Anongdeth, Donovinh Tran, Nela Anongdeth, Zayne Chanthala, Taylon Hoang; as well as many beloved extended family, friends and colleagues in the community.

Funeral services will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland Michigan 49423. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 12:30pm.
