POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 26, 2022) – A 41-year-old Muskegon man and his four youthful passengers were injured in a single-vehicle crash along I-96 between Coopersville and Nunica on Sunday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Knott, deputies and other first responders were dispatched around 8:10 PM to the freeway near 80th Avenue. That was where the motorist, driving a 2007 Honda westbound, lost control of the vehicle. In an attempt to regain such control, he apparently over-corrected, and the vehicle veered off to the right. It rolled over before coming to rest, causing one of the under-10 passengers inside to be ejected.
The driver was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital, while the children went to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in that same Grand Rapids medical complex. All five were described as having sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
