PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 23, 2022) – The search is on for a 30-year-old Caucasian man wanted for questioning in a “suspicious incident” that had happened on Thursday evening between Holland and Grand Haven.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the man approached an 11-year-old boy who had been pedaling a bicycle in the area of Blair Street between 144th and 152nd avenues around 6:30 PM. The adult, who was wearing sunglasses, had gotten out of the a black SUV, possibly a Toyota, and spoke to the boy, offering him a ride, but made no contact with the youth and apparently didn’t threaten him in any way.
A neighbor working in a yard nearby saw the situation and approached the two persons. The adult retreated back into his vehicle and drove off eastbound on Blair towards US-31. The boy was not harmed. Detectives spent Friday briefing area schools and Sheriff’s Department school resource deputies on this incident.
Anyone with any information on this matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
