The Hope College volleyball team is projected to contend for an MIAA regular-season championship this fall. The Flying Dutch finished runner-up in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll with 13 points and three first-place votes.
Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. Calvin University is the preseason favorite after earning 10 points and six first-place votes. After Hope, Albion College took third with 22 points, followed by Trine University in fourth place (30), Adrian College (37), Saint Mary’s College (45), Alma College (47), Olivet College (59) and Kalamazoo College (61).
Led by head coach Becky Schmidt, Hope opens the season on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 2-3, at the Great Lakes Crossover at the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, Ohio.
