HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 16, 2022) – Even though Holland’s annual signature event ended just three months ago, the call has gone out for a staple of next year’s Tulip Time Festival.
On Monday, festival officials announced that artists based in Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Kalamazoo and Muskegon counties can now start submitting works for consideration of being the 2023 official Tulip Time Poster. The 13th annual First Bloem Art Competition determines the design that will adorn posters, merchandise and marketing for the May 4-14 event. Competitors can submit up to three creations for a single fee of $35.
Once all entries are submitted by September 28th, Professor Margaret Vega of the Kendall College of Art and Design will cull the field down to 20 finalists, with festival officials announcing a single winner in a February ceremony. The other 19 finalists will then be put into a “Viewer’s Choice” competition, with festival attendees voting for their favorite before a winner is announced on May 13th.
Kate Moynihan’s “Bursting with Color” was the 2022 First Bloem winner, while Christopher Ryckman’s “The Heart of Holland” captured the Viewer’s Choice honor.
Details on how to submit entries are here.
