PARK TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC AM/FM) – Two underwater devices have been placed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the north pier at Holland State Park to study rip currents.
Resident engineer Liz Wilkinson says they are studying if the structure of the pier is having an impact on currents, as the piers there are in an arrowhead shape, but also have a hook-like shape near the beach that is being looked at for possibly adding to rip current conditions.
Park Township Manager Howard Fink says there are real safety concerns in that area.
