LAKETOWN TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC AM/FM) – The Laketown Township clerk has stepped down from her position, but is taking a newly created position for the township.
Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Clerk Michelle Sall at its Wednesday regular meeting. Sall had to resign the post after taking on the newly created position of Community Development Director for the township.
The board is accepting applications for the clerk position through August 22.
Sall was appointed Township Clerk in 2019 after the resignation of Wendy Van Huis and elected to the position in 2020. Her last day as clerk will be August 14.
The board has 45 days from the resignation date to appoint a new clerk. The new clerk will serve until November 2024.
Duties include maintaining custody of all records, keeping the township ordinance book, recruiting and overseeing election workers, conducting elections, preparing financial statements and acting as cemetery sexton and managing the cemetery.
Anyone interested in the position should send a letter of interest along with experience and qualifications no later than Aug. 22 to Howell at the township office, 4338 Beeline Road, Holland, MI 49423.
Sall will become the township’s first fulltime community development director on August 15. The board recently created the position to focus on planning and zoning as well as permits.
She will also staff the meetings of the planning commission and zoning board of appeals, work on zoning enforcement and economic development throughout the township including the Blue Star Highway corridor.
