Louie was the son of Tom and Sena Beyer and was a member of Vriesland Reformed Church where he had served on consistory. He took over the family farm following the death of his brother John, was the caretaker of Vriesland Cemetery, and served with the ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service).
Louie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Reimink) in 2016; son, Dale Allen in 1955; and a granddaughter, Ashley Beyer in 1987.
He is survived by his children, Sandy and Roger Smead of Fruitport, Mike and Brenda Beyer of Zeeland, Pam and Steve Genzink of Holland; 11 grandchildren, Chuck Smead and Donna, Russell and Marlene Smead, Becky and Leo Buehler, Kyle Smead, Lydia and Jeff Genzink, Katrina and Derek Vanderveen, Nathan Beyer, Josiah and Jodi Genzink, Anna and Nate Weeber, Jesse and Shelby Genzink, Jeremy and Kailee Genzink; 20 great-grandchildren, Luke Smead, Eli Smead, Selah Smead, Eden Smead, Tyler Fiefield, Marina Genzink, McKinley Genzink, Addison Vanderveen, Carter Genzink, Austin Genzink, Olivia Genzink, Brooke Genzink, Declan Weeber, Hudson Weeber, Brooks Weeber, Brynlee Weeber, Brayden Genzink, Brylee Genzink, Hadley Genzink, Blakely Genzink ; sister-in-law, Eleanor Schaffer, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Vriesland Reformed Church 6839 Byron Rd., Zeeland, with Rev. Kevin Yurk officiating. Burial will be in Vriesland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bibles for Mexico. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, also at Vriesland Reformed Church.
