Harlan Jurries, age 87, finished the work given to him by his Lord and Savior. God called him to be with Jesus on July 25, 2022. He has been reunited with his wife Arloa.
He enjoyed the jobs he had and loved to go to work. His goal was to make his customers and friends happy. Harlan spent several years in the fertilizer business working for different companies where he served as a manager and salesperson. It was his prayer that his entire family joins him and Arloa in heaven. He was a member of Hamilton Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and deacon, and in the winter months, he attended Oceanside Community Church in Florida, where he and Arloa spent many winters. Harlan loved cooking and baking, then enjoyed visiting people and giving them what he made. He had many friends in Michigan and Florida. Over the years, he was involved in many mission projects, along with many volunteers and a good friend Stan Gates, who rebuilt Calvary Church in Cleveland, OH for the glory of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Arloa in 2016; and son Kyle in 2012.
He leaves behind his children Kristi (Ken) Laninga, and Kevin (Peggy) Jurries; grandchildren Nick Jurries, Nicole Laninga, Adam (Elisha) Laninga, Christopher Laninga, Aron Jurries, and Bethany (Kanen) Hunt; great-grandchildren Asher and Kaiser Hunt, Presley and Gavin Jurries, Emilia and Andrew Laninga; siblings Donna (Terry) Skoglund, Norm (Virginia) Jurries, Lloyd (Kathy) Jurries, Merle Jurries, Gary (Donna) Jurries, Roger (Sandie) Jurries, David (Kathy) Jurries; In-laws, Julian (Rosie) Smit, Earl (Linda) Smit; special friend Sue Dykhuis; many extended family and friends.
A memorial celebration of Harlan’s life will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Hamilton Reformed Church, with visitation from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
The family would like to send an extra big thank you to Holland Home Health Care nurses Donna and Elliot. They went beyond to show love and care to Harlan.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Calvary Reformed Church in Cleveland, OH, or to Hungry for Christ in Hamilton, MI.
