Robert Junior Geerlings

Robert was born on April 8th, 1938 in Zeeland, Michigan to Martin and Reka Geerlings. Robert was a Zeeland police officer for 5 years. He was the police officer of the year in 1964. After that, Robert was a postal worker for 30 years. He was also a bus driver and a service member of the Michigan Army National guard. Robert was a long-time member of Faith Reformed Church of Zeeland, where he was known to memorize Bible scriptures. As well as a lifetime member of Jaycees and an Ambuc’s volunteer. After retirement, Robert loved to garden. Robert will be deeply missed by many. In honor of Robert’s life, please bring a clean empty can of pop to the memorial.

Robert is survived by: his wife, Linda Geerlings; children, Heidi (Heath) Hunt, Todd (Dona) Geerlings, Scott (Jaclyn) Geerlings, Kent (Debra) Geerlings, and Holly (Ken) Arens; grandchildren, Landon Hunt, Lexington Hunt, Katreel Hunt, Monroe Hunt, Aric (Lisa) Geerlings, Brandon (Jenna) Geerlings, Jenna (Rob) TerHorst, Michelle (Ty) Tanis, Kent Geerlings Jr, Hannah Geerlings, Zachary (Rachel) Arens, Samuel (Jessica) Arens, and Abigail Arens; great-grandchildren, Henry TerHorst, Charles TerHorst, Olivia Tanis, Theodore Tanis, Madeline Tanis, Malachi Arens, Cora Grace Arens, Maksim Arens, Haiden Arens, Caroline Arens, and Piper Arens; siblings, Rose (George) Bouma, Ethel Steenwyk, Paul (Jan) Geerlings, Evie (Ron) Brouwer, and Dave (Linda) Geerlings; brothers-in-law, Paul (Marilyn) Wyrick and Jack (Mary) Wyrick; sister-in-law, Myrna Caballero; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by siblings, Harvey (Ang) Geerlings, Robert Geerlings, Ruth (Eugene) Michielsen, Arloa (Ken) Koning, Marian (Dale) Engelsman, and Carolyn (Herb) Otten; brothers-in-law, Claus Steenwyk, Wally Wyrick, and Ronald Wyrick; sisters-in-law, Marion Orich and Carolyn (Pete) Osterbaan.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022 from 12:15-1 at Faith Reformed Church 220 W Central Ave. Zeeland, MI 49464. Followed by a funeral service at 1 pm at Faith Reformed Church. Officiated by Pastor Jonathan Elgersma.
