Alec was born on December 22, 1990, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Jeffery and Lisa (Kortering) Gabier. Alec attended Jenison Schools and graduated from Jenison High School in 2009. He went on to Grand Valley State University and graduated with his engineering degree. Alec enjoyed his professional engineering work, especially his drone work for the U.S. military. An emphatic and fun part of Alec’s life was his service cat “Mayhem”.
He is survived by his parents Jeff and Lisa Gabier of Jenison, his sister Katie and Adam Hukkala of Brighton, grandparents: Ernest and Joyce Kortering of Zeeland, Leo and Norma Gabier of Traverse City; aunts and uncles: Randy and Sue Kortering, Larry and Pat Kortering, Richelle and Jon Hofman, Jerry Gabier and Laura Lemon, Julie and Ron Wiles; many cousins and extended family members.
A memorial service in Alec’s honor will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland, MI 49464. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alec Gabier Memorial Fund.
