HOLLAND, MI (WHTC AM/FM) – An effort to increase both voter registration and COVID-19 vaccinations will be held in Holland this afternoon.
The “vote and vax” event will be held at the Momentum Center in conjunction with with the Ottawa County Clerk’s office to provide a voter registration event from 5:00-7:00 p.m. today at its Holland location, 345 W. 14th Street. The Ottawa County Department of Public Health will also be onsite offering free COVID-19 vaccinations.
A second event will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday at Momentum Center’s Grand Haven location, 714 Columbus Avenue.
To be able to register to vote, you must be 18 years old by Election Day and have either a valid driver’s license, state identification card, or the last four digits of their social security number.
Thursday’s event will also include a town hall and meet and greet with The (Anti) Racism Task Force. That’s a group organized through the Momentum Center that has held virtual town hall meetings on various aspects of race and society for the last two years.
‘These events will provide needed opportunities for individuals with critical services including registering to vote, receiving vaccinations and a chance to meet one another in a stigma-free space,’ stated Momentum Center’s Barbara Lee VanHorrsen. ‘The offerings support the health of our community at a time when it’s much needed.’
Momentum Center says a second series of voter registration events will be held October 18 in Holland and October 19 in Grand Haven for the general election in November.
