HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC AM/FM) – An 11-year-old Holland Township boy reportedly saved his sister’s young friend who was being attacked and severely bitten by a dog Wednesday afternoon.
WOOD-TV 8 is reporting the incident happened around 5:30 pm inside Leisure Estates Mobile Home Park off Butternut Drive in Holland Township.
Dominic Morales was playing in an inflatable pool with his sisters and their 9-year-old friend Allison when a neighbor’s dog showed up in the yard. The pit bull, lived in a home right across the street from Morales, who said the dog often wandered loose.
When the girl tried to shoo the dog away after he jumped into a pool, he reportedly attacked her. As Dominic pulled the dog off the girl, he was reportedly attacked also and required 21 stitches. The girl was more severely injured, receiving over 100 stiches.
Dominic’s stepmother was eventually able to get the dog away from the children.
Ottawa County Animal Control has seized the dog. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating and will work with the prosecutor to determine what criminal charges the dog’s owner may face.
