SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WKZO AM/FM) – Two of the game’s better left-handers meet this evening, as the Detroit Tigers open a series at San Francisco.
Detroit”s Tarik Skubal (5-5, 3.63 ERA) will face the Giants Carlos Rodon (6-4, 2.70 ERA).
The Tigers took two of three from Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend while the Giants lost two of three to the Cincinnati Reds.
Rodon is one of the few lefties who has been better than Skubal, with 101 strikeouts in 80 innings and just 59 hits allowed, leading to one of the best hit-per-nine and strikeout-per-nine ratios in the league.
The opening pitch is set for 9:45 p.m. EDT. The series finishes with an afternoon game Wednesday.
