HOLLAND, MI (WHTC AM/FM) – Even though it’s higher than the pre-pandemic rate, the unemployment for May in Ottawa County was the lowest in the state.
The preliminary unemployment rates for May 2022 were released last week by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget. Ottawa County’s unemployment rate for May measured 3.2%. That makes it the lowest in Michigan, with 8.9% in Roscommon County currently the highest.
45 of Michigan’s counties saw a decline in their jobless rate from April to May. Over the course of the year, jobless rates have receded for all 83 Michigan counties.
The Ottawa County unemployment rate was 2.4 % in March 2020, but shot up to 20.4% in April 2020.
