Nancy Parker, age 78 of Saugatuck, passed away, Saturday, June 18, 2022.
Nancy Parker (1944-2022) was originally from Champaign, Illinois, and moved to Saugatuck in 1991 with her partner and then-wife of 40 years, Barb Wishon, to open the Newnham Sun Catcher Inn. Nancy not only served as innkeeper but also crafted stained glass art, including the sun catchers for which the inn was named.
She became one of the founding members of the Saugatuck Artists Collective on Culver Street, as well as an antique dealer at the Saugatuck Antique Pavilion. There she and Barb sold not only her stained glass but also items from her large collections of Coca-Cola collectibles and Wade figurines as well as antique décor from the inn, which was sold in 2010.
A member of All Saints Church of Saugatuck since 2010, as well as an avid and skilled bowler in local leagues, Nancy will be remembered by her many friends, and the Saugatuck Douglas community in general, for her ready laugh, her resolve through her health challenges and her loyal and giving nature.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Monday (June 27), at All Saints Episcopal Church, 252 Grand Street, with Father Jay Johnson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Saugatuck Chapel
