Obituary for Jerry “JR” Robinson

“JR” – Jerry Robinson

Jerry passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Jackson, TN, to Charles & Brenda Robinson. He grew up in Tennessee and Kentucky. He worked various maintenance positions starting at the age of 18. In 2005, Jerry moved to Michigan to get a fresh start on life as he had struggled with addiction for most of his life. In October 2010, Jerry entered residential treatment at the Chester A. Ray Center, a program of Reach for Recovery (formerly OAR). After successfully completing the 90-day program, Jerry’s life began to improve. In 2011, he started volunteering at Reach for Recovery as a way of giving back to the organization that he believed had saved his life. He volunteered and worked for Reach in various capacities until his cancer diagnosis in July of 2021. He was also involved at the Evergreen Day Program and the Ottawa County Drop-In Center. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed fishing and restoring old cars.

Jerry is survived by two sons: Zachary (Christine) Robinson and Alex Robinson; and two grandchildren: Adam and Lezlie Robinson. Sisters & Brother: Lonna Potts, Mary Alice Lee & Greg Lee, and very special friends: Bradley and Sheri Taylor and his entire Reach for Recovery family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at the Reach for Recovery Retreat Center, at 497 Century Lane, Holland, MI 49423, with Jerry’s friend, the Rev. David Blanton officiating.

Memorials may be given to: Reach for Recovery, Capital Improvements Fund.
