ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The search for a new director of Zeeland’s Howard Miller Library and Community Center is apparently over.
Pending approval during Monday night’s City Council meeting, Amanda Hanson will be appointed as the new leader for the facility that has been run on an interim bases by Lindsey Kult and Leann Parker since the departure earlier this year of Heather Woods-Gramza. Hanson beat out two other applicants for the post after a review by a search team of advisory board members, city council members, and current library lead staffers.
Hanson comes to Holland from Naperville, Illinois, where she served as the Children’s Services Supervisor for that community’s public library system. That department is similar in size to what she will be taking on in Zeeland.
“Besides Amanda’s strong working knowledge of libraries and varied background in libraries, her skillset matched extremely well with the key attributes we are looking for in our next director,” wrote City Manager Tim Klunder in supporting documents attached to tonight’s council meeting agenda. “Those include visible leadership, ability to create a vision for the library/community center, strong working relationships within the community, passion for the library, and the ability to lead staff and utilize their various talents.”
If approved, Hanson would assume her new responsibilities on September 5th, with Kult and Parker handling the director’s role until that time.
The Zeeland City Council holds a work-study session at 6:30 PM ahead of its 7 PM business meeting in Chambers at Zeeland City Hall.
