LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 1, 2022) – Two Holland entities are getting a financial boost from Lansing for expansion projects.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced on Tuesday that its Michigan Strategic Fund has awarded Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grants to Coastal Container and Hudsonville Creamery totaling 1.264 million dollars.
A million is going to the ice cream maker to support a multi-phase expansion of its facility off of East 48th Street, a $65.7 million dollar project that would create 76 jobs by an undisclosed date. The packaging firm Coastal is adding 65 thousand square feet of manufacturing space to its Industrial Avenue complex, while adding new equipment such as an on-site corrugator in a $22 million effort that would create 62 jobs by 2025.
The state says that the City of Holland is pitching in with 50 percent tax abatements on both projects, with the Tulip City’s governing board scheduled to vote on the request for Hudsonville Creamery during this evening’s business meeting.
