Donald Ver Hey Jr., of Lake City, MI, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the age of 77.
Don was born and raised in Holland, MI. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged with many honors. He then spent his work life doing auto body repair. Don was a very adventurous man with many hobbies, some of which included gold panning, hunting, fishing, carving, racecar driving, and collecting rocks. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved ones and will be remembered by them for his generous heart.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ver Hey Sr., and Ella (Hemple) Ver Hey.
He is survived by his wife, Lola (Overway) Ver Hey; children: Robb Ver Hey, of Holland, and John (Rhonda) Ver Hey, of Zeeland. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Kayla Marie Ver Hey of Portage, and Cameron John Ver Hey, of Zeeland. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Carol Johnson, Steve Ver Hey, Rick Ver Hey, Eileen Melvin, Kathy Ver Burg, and Terry Ver Hey.
A funeral service honoring Don will be held at noon on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Visitation will take place Thursday, the evening prior, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend the burial, with military honors, at 2:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Home Cemetery. www.yntemafh.com.
