Charles Wentzel, age 93 of Hamilton, passed to his Heavenly home on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Holland.
Charles was born in Hamilton, MI March 22, 1929. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, and was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother Duane (Tony) Wentzel; in-laws Carl Sandahl, Paul, Sara Thompson, and Marilyn Sipple; niece Kathy Sipple and nephew Ted Thompson.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Bernice; 2 daughters, Carol (Ron) Poppema, and Jan (Doug) Schrotenboer; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Craig (Katie) Poppema (Anna and Owen), Laura (Travis) Thompson (Kelsey and Emily), Randy (Marie) Poppema (Charles and Madison), Scott (Julie) Schrotenboer (Sam and Luke), Cara (Trevor) Riley (Ford and Mabel); In-laws, Yvonne Wentzel, Maxine Sandahl, Lawrence (Sharon) Thompson, (Carolyn) Don Miner, and Jack Sipple; Many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Charles’ life will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3151 120th Ave., Holland. The burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hamilton.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church or Hospice of Holland.
