HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 14, 2022) – It’s a grand finale for the 93rd Tulip Time Festival on Saturday.
Early risers can take advantage of a Walking Tour of Window on the Waterfront Park from 8:30 AM to 12 Noon. Day-long activities include Tall Ship Dockside Tours at Boatwerks East Dock; the Zeeland Girl Exhibit at the Holland Armory; the Tulip Time Quilt Show at Beechwood Church; the Tulip Immersion Garden at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds; and the Carnival at the parking lot outside of the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place.
Highlighting the day is the Volksparade, which runs from Columbia Avenue and East 8th Street downtown west to the Holland High School campus on Van Raalte Avenue and West 24th Street. The two-mile-long route is considered one of the longest routes, if not the longest, of any parade in Michigan. The activities begin with the ceremonial street inspection by Holland Mayor Nathan Bocks at 1 PM at Columbia and 8th, with Dutch Dancers performing along 8th Street at 1:30 PM, before the parade kicks off at 2 PM. Coverage of the parade on 99 7/1450 WHTC begins at 1:30 PM.
The Dutch Dancers return to Centennial park this evening for performances, while Chase Bryant has a concert at the Heeringa Holland Civic Place, and the Guys on Ice show is at the Holland Community Theatre, before the day concludes with fireworks over Lake Macatawa off of Kollen Park.
