CHESTER TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 13, 2022) – A 20-year-old Grand Rapids woman and a 29-year-old Conklin man were hospitalized when her SUV collided with his farm tractor in northeast Ottawa County early on Friday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Harding Street near 16th Avenue at 1:35 AM. That was where the woman, who was driving westbound, rammed into the rear of a farm tractor that was pulling an agricultural sprayer. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to overturn, pinning both drivers and compelling rescue crews to extricate them.
Both drivers were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and the woman was cited for not being able to stop her vehicle within a safe distance.
No names were disclosed as the crash remains under investigation.
