PORTAGE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 11, 2022) – Grand Haven is apparently going to have to look for a new operational chief.
The Portage City Council has tentatively selected Patrick McGinnis to be the City Manager of the Kalamazoo suburb, subject to a final background check and a contract agreement. Mayor Patricia Randall and her colleagues hope to have things wrapped up by the next meeting on May 24th. “I thought all of the candidates were strong,” she said during the Tuesday night meeting. “I thought they would all bring something special to the city of Portage and excited about calling Portage home.”
McGinnis, who had been the manager of Coast Guard City USA since 2003 beat out Peter Dame and Jade Smith, both from the Detroit area, to replace Joseph LaMargo, who left last year due to family commitments.
The Grand Haven City Council will now have to begin the process that Portage apparently has just concluded when it meets next on May 16th.
