HOUSTON, TX (WKZO AM/FM) – Jake Odorizzi tossed five scoreless frames as the Houston Astros blanked the Detroit Tigers 5-0 Sunday afternoon.
The right-hander allowed only one hit and struck out five as he moved to 3-and-2 on the mound. Aledmys Díaz mashed a grand slam and Alex Bregman also launched a solo homer in the victory.
Houston has won seven straight to improve to 18-and-11.
Drew Hutchison was dealt his third loss for Detroit, which has lost five straight and 12 of their last 14. The Tigers managed one hit and three walks as they dropped to 8-and-19.
The Tigers are back at home tonight to host the Athletics, with the opening pitch at 7:10 p.m. Michael Pineda is scheduled to start for Detroit. Paul Blackburn is slated to start for Oakland.
