HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 5, 2022) – As its Academic Year 2022 comes to a close with final exams this week and Sunday’s commencement exercises, Hope College is looking ahead with some promising numbers.
The Holland-based institution of higher learning announced this week a record number of deposits from incoming freshmen for the new school year that begins in August. By the end of May 1st, which is recognized as National College Decision Day, there were a thousand prospective students who had financially made a commitment to attend Hope, breaking the previous high of 947 set 10 years ago, and it was 25 percent above the school’s goal of 800 set last summer.
In a statement, the college “anticipates that, as typical for colleges and universities, some of the students who paid deposits will change their plans and won’t attend. At the same time, the college is on track for a record number of first-time students this fall, as the previous high was 904 in 2012.”
The school added that projections for total enrollment next fall may be around this year’s amount of 3,133, about 300 below the record mark set in 2014.
