ZEELAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Three persons were injured in a Tuesday morning crash northeast of Zeeland.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Wildfong, deputies and first responders were dispatched to the area of 72nd Avenue and Quincy Street around 7:30 AM on a report of a two-vehicle collision. “The investigation shows that a blue Suzuki was eastbound on Quincy and had stopped at the stop sign at 72nd Avenue,” Wildfong said in a department statement. “The (53-year-old Zeeland woman) then pulled out into the intersection and was struck by a black Lexus that was southbound on 72nd Avenue.”
The woman was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue workers. She was taken to an undisclosed hospital in serious condition. The other driver, a 24-year-old woman from Gilroy, California, was able to get out of her sedan and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year-old man, who was a passenger in the sedan, was treated at the scene for bumps and bruises.
The incident remains under investigation.
