Warren was born in Holland, MI on December 29, 1937 to Albert and Henrietta Brouwer. Warren was a lifelong member of North Holland Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Children in Worship Leader, Mission in Action Leader, and Kid’s Hope Mentor. Warren’s faith was the cornerstone of his life, living a robust life of Christ-filled service. He went on countless mission trips across the U.S. and Kenya, utilizing his building skills, to help spread the word of God. Warren served as a board and property member at Cran Hill Ranch, where the Brouwer family camped every Fourth of July for over 45 years.
Warren worked as a mason and carpenter for most of his life as the owner of Warren Brouwer Construction and co-owner of Van Pelt Cabinets. Warren was known for his artistic skill and craftsmanship. He and Geri spent many winters in Arizona after retiring where he developed many hobbies of wood carving, stained glass, and learning to play the organ.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Schut) Brouwer of 62 years, children Doug Brouwer, Dawn Hoekstra, Al (Debbie) Brouwer, Cindy (Jeff) Bosman, and Kevin (Jen) Brouwer, 11 grandchildren, Brad, Bryan (Kelli), Brent, Nicki (Dave), Mitch, Heather (Matt), Jacob, Anna, Emmie, Chase, Rylie, and 8 great-grandchildren Camden, Colton, Ashton, Pierson, Parker, Peyton, Deacon, and Ellerie. In-Laws Norm (Grace) Schut, Nan Schut, Hazel Bode, Jan (Dave) Baar, Louise (Marty) Nivison, Junior (Marie) Schut, Barb (Roger) DeKoekKoek, Bob (Louisa) Schut, Thea (Craig) Wilhoite, Lorraine Brouwer, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and many in-laws.
Visitation and funeral will be held at North Holland Reformed Church, 12050 New Holland St, Holland, MI 49424. The visitation will be Wednesday, April 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 28th at 2 pm, with the Rev. Steven DeVries officiating. Interment will be in the Olive Township Cemetery.
