HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 13, 2022) – With the arrival of Spring in Western Michigan, it may not be time to talk about ice skating. But, the City of Holland would appreciate your input on a proposed ice-skating park and is offering you an opportunity to voice your opinion with two upcoming community engagement events.
The City of Holland received a generous gift last month through the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland area from Frank Kraii for over one million dollars. The donation from the retired educator is earmarked for a community ice rink.
To be good stewards of Mr. Kraii’s gift, two community engagement events are planned. City staff would like to hear from the community on several factors including how you would like the ice-skating park to look and feel and what activities do you envision at the park during winter and summer months. They are also seeking feedback on community skating parks and/or multi-season recreational facilities you have found inspiring.
Everyone is welcome to attend a Community Open House on Monday, April 18 at Holland City Hall from 6-8pm. There is also a Community Design Workshop scheduled from 8:30am-4pm at Holland City Hall. The ice rink project is proposed to be built at Window on the Waterfront, with a construction date planned for 2023.
