GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 11, 2022) – A pair of teenaged drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash south of the GVSU campus near Allendale on Sunday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to Fillmore Street west of 42nd Avenue around 6:45 PM. That was where a 17-year-old Allendale man, driving a westbound sedan, nodded off. The vehicle crossed the center line and slammed into an eastbound sedan, driven by a 19-year-old Muskegon woman. She had to be extricated from her vehicle by rescuers.
The two motorists were taken to Spectrum Health’s downtown Grand Rapids complex for treatment of what Hallmeyer called non-life threatening injuries. No names were disclosed as the crash remains under investigation.
