Connie was born on May 16, 1934, in Grand Rapids and married Gordon Van Koevering on May 17, 1958. They moved to Vriesland in 1960 where they raised their family in the same house where Connie lived until shortly before her death. The Van Koeverings were members of Vriesland Reformed Church where Connie was involved for many years in Sunday School, Bible study, senior citizens breakfast, and other activities.
As a homemaker, Connie enjoyed working in the kitchen, preparing nutritious meals, and canning homegrown fruits and vegetables. She was an avid reader throughout her life. In her later years, Connie enjoyed working on puzzles, listening to music, and learning about her family history.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents, James and Goldie McCleary; brother, Jim McCleary; and son-in-law, Paul Hulst.
Connie is survived by five children, Denise Hulst, Carol Morren, and her husband Doug, Mark Van Koevering, Martha Van Koevering, and her husband Ryan Fisher, Priscilla Van Koevering; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Phil McCleary and his wife Jan; and sister-in-law Sharon McCleary.
Visitation will be 9:30 am-10:30 am Friday, April 8 at Vriesland Reformed Church, 6839 Byron Rd, Zeeland with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. Pastor Kevin Yurk will officiate. A light luncheon will follow. The burial will be in Vriesland Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to Words of Hope, 700 Ball Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
