He is survived by his children: Cheryl and Tom Broekhuizen, James and Lori Raterink, Brenda Boonstra, and Keith and Katie Raterink; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren: his siblings: Floyd Raterink, and Mary Van Iwaarden; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Norma Raterink, Esther Raterink, Howard and Marilyn Slenk, Ruth Slenk, Thelma and Galen Meyer, and his very dear friend Lois Schreur.
Gord was preceded in death in 2012 by his wife of 59 years, Carol, and his son-in-law John David Boonstra.
Gord served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He started working at B.J.W. Berghorst & Sons Inc. in high school and returned after serving in the military. Gord retired from full-time work at the age of 65 and continued part-time until 2021. He was an active member of Third Christian Reformed Church.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be at 11 am Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Third Christian Reformed Church, 10 West Central Avenue, Zeeland. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
