Angelyn was both a strong woman and full of grace. As a mother, she had “the eyes of an eagle and the nose of a beagle”, so her children rarely got away with anything. Nevertheless, her love for her family was evident to all. She adored her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A love for God’s creation and the outdoors led her to enjoy bird watching. She was a talented knitter, quilter, cook, and baker. Angelyn was a member of Christ Memorial Church where she took part in Bible studies and was a part of the Piecemakers Quilting club. She also served as the Dutch Costume Director for West Ottawa Schools for many years.
Angelyn is survived by her children: Brent and Julie Heerspink, Steven and Sandra Heerspink, Sally and Randy Weener; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way); also surviving are in-laws Harvey Heerspink and Marge Heerspink.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Heerspink in 1997; her son Rodney in 2004, and an infant son Randall in 1947.
Funeral services to celebrate the life and faith of Angelyn will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland, MI, 49423. Prior to the funeral, there will be a time of visitation beginning at 11:30 AM on Wednesday.
