SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2022) – The Saugatuck City Council deals with a fund applications and looks over the performance of the City Manager during Monday night’s scheduled bi-weekly meeting.
The panel is expected to approve a resolution that would help lead to the submission of a Michigan Natural Resources Trail Fund Grant for expanding the non-motorized Blue Star Trail. According to Deputy Clerk and Project Coordinator Kate White, “The City of Saugatuck applied for grant funding through the MDOT Transportation Alternative Program (TAP), with a matching contribution of $50,000. The TAP grant request is $1,275,000 and City Council approved this grant submission and requested amount via Resolution 210927-A.
“Also under this resolution, City Council approved for the City of Saugatuck to apply for the MNRTF for $300,000 to cover construction and engineering costs associated with the proposed project. A necessary part of the MNRTF grant application is the resolution from the governing, elected body of the municipality, approving the submission of the grant application. The submission of this grant application could provide access to up to $300,000 to support the proposed trail project.”
Council will also go behind closed doors to review the performance of City Manager Ryan Heise after 13 months on the job.
